About Us
Kamwo has been a source of Chinese herbs and medical practitioner supplies for over thirty years. Our Chinese herbal experience spans four generations. With over 1000 medicinals (including an extensive pao zhi selection), our bulk herb and granule formularies make us one of the largest Chinese herbal pharmacies in the US. We offer services in custom raw herb formula filling, encapsulating of granules and vacuum packing in our on-site FDA/GMP compliant facility. We sell a wide variety of Chinese medical supplies and quality-tested herbal products to hundreds of medical practitioners and their patients across the United States, Canada and Europe.
Here at Kamwo, we are dedicated to providing high-quality, efficient service to suit the individual needs of each customer. Our staff works under the supervision of licensed acupuncturists, board-certified herbalists, and a Western pharmacologist. Our pharmacy personnel offer assistance in both English and Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese).

Our History
Kamwo first opened in 1973 as a family-owned and operated Chinese herbal pharmacy. After outgrowing the original space, the business relocated to its current location on Grand Street on the border of Chinatown and Little Italy. Over the last 35 years, we have watched the Chinese Medicine profession expand significantly here in the West. Kamwo grew to meet the needs of this diverse and evolving TCM community.
In 2006 we were one of the first to develop and implement a web-based, formula ordering program, Kamwo Practitioners Online (KPO). Not only does this HIPAA compliant program help to manage practitioners’ herbal practice, it also has facilitated greater outreach. Launching our Online Store further supported this effort, allowing practitioners to order medical supplies quickly and easily from anywhere in the world. In 2007 not only did we work within FDA guidelines to establish the first and only GMP compliant vacuum pack facility in NYC, but a GMP compliant granule dispensary as well.
We at Kamwo are proud of our efforts to streamline the herbal practice of our customers. Creating an environment that fosters the exchange of knowledge and ideas among members of the Chinese Medicine and greater medical communities is equally important to us. Since 2008 we have been sponsoring a monthly in-house lecture series to facilitate greater learning and discussion within the group.

Tours
Kamwo offers pharmacy tours for practitioners and students. This tour includes an overview of the dispensary as well as an inside look into the cooking facility. A representative from the Kamwo staff will guide you through the pharmacy sharing their knowledge and answering your many questions.
