Chinese Medicine is a complex and ancient practice of holistic healing involving acupuncture, herbs, dietary therapy, massage and qigong (energy work).
With the roots of this medicine dating back almost 5000 years ago, the first medical text on Chinese herbology is believed to have been written sometime between 300 BCE and 200 CE. Today, practitioners of Chinese Herbal Medicine are generally trained to use hundreds of herbs and may select from bulk (raw) herbs, granules, capsules or ready-made medicine.
Unlike bulk or granule formulas which are custom made to fit a patient’s needs, ready-made, or “patent,” medicine is pre-processed and may include anything from topical treatments (such as plasters or ointments) to syrups and pills.
All Chinese Medicine is aimed at restoring balance to the body and mind, and should be practiced under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.
