Our Pharmacy
Carrying over 500 pharmacy grade raw herbs, Kamwo offers one of the largest selections of bulk herbs in the country. Our extensive pao zhi (medicinals processed in-house) selection offers herbalists even greater specificity when tailoring formulas to their patient's presentation. Practitioners can order custom formulas in raw, powdered or vacuum pack form. Quality Assurance
All herbs are manufacturer-tested using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) to confirm identification, ensure potency and to test for active constituents when necessary. Kamwo also employs Eurofins Central Analytical Laboratories, an independent US testing facility in New Orleans, to test our herbs for microbes, heavy metals (such as Arsenic, Lead, Mercury, and Cadmium), as well as for over 60 pesticide residues, including DDT and BHC. Eurofins is a worldwide leader in the bio-analytical market, with 40 state-of-the-art laboratories across the globe. They employ over 10,000 reliable analytical methods to ensure herb, food and pharmaceutical safety. Through voluntary testing and sourcing sulfur-free medicinals whenever possible, we are helping to raise the industry standard in ensuring that patients receive only the finest quality herbs.
Experience
On staff, we have full-time NCCAOM certified Diplomates in Chinese Herbology as well as a Western pharmacist supervising prescription services. Our experienced personnel examine each formula to be filled for potentially concerning herb-herb interactions, toxicity or unsafe dosing. Pao Zhi
Enhance your formulas with the use of over 75 different pao zhi (herbs that have been specifically processed in a traditional manner in order to alter their therapeutic effect). Processed at our in-house facility, our pao zhi herbs are dry-fried or prepared with honey, salt, ginger, wine or vinegar.
Powdering
Herbal formulas or single herbs can be custom-ground into powder, either for patient use or for further processing. Powdered herbs are often encapsulated or used externally in creams, washes or soaks. Remember that powdered raw herbs are different in strength and character than granulated herbs.
