Lump formation is a result of Qi and blood stagnation combined with phlegm accumulation. Taraxacum (pu gong ying) eliminates heat and toxins. Trichosanthes root (tian hua fen) reduces inflammation and dispels pus. Vaccaria (wang bu liu xing) invigorates blood circulation and is traditionally used to remove tumors. Red peony (chi shao), salvia (dan shen), tang kuei (dang gui) and ligusticum (chuan xiong) invigorate the blood. Blue citrus (qing pi) treats pain and swelling and disperses stagnant Qi. Prunella (xia ku cao) reduces swelling and has anti-toxic effects. Fritillaria (zhe bei mu) disperses lumps. Cyperus (xiang fu) is anti-spasmodic and relieves pain. Clinical Notes1.The cyst will be softer in three months with reduction in size taking 6 to 12 months. Therefore, this formula should be used long-term.2.For lymph swellings, it may be necessary to clean the lymph glands with an anti-viral formula. Astra Isatis would be useful because it contains seaweeds that help reduce lymph swellings. Also consider Clear Heat or Clear Phlegm
