Grape seed polyphenols are referred to as Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins (OPCs). Studies show that consumption of red wine and other flavonoid-rich foods as associated with reduction in CHD in seniors from the Netherlands.A research team at the University of California Davis has investigated the effects of wine phenolics in the inhibition of human LDL oxidation through in vitro studies. The grape seed extract used by Health Concerns is a polyphenol rich water extract. Taurine is a free amino acid that stabilizes cell membranes, functions as a neurotransmitter and osmoregulator, and is involved in the conjugation of bile acids.Taurine also has antiarrhythmic effects and inhibits platelet aggregation. It is thought to be useful at preventing and treating congestive heart failure.
