This is a patent herbal remedy based on the ancient recipe, "Yang Yin Qing Fei Tang" (Nourish the Yin and Clear the Lungs Decoction), from Jade Key to Many Towers (Chong Lou Yu Yao), which is primarily used for treating lung-yin deficiency marked by dryness and pain in the throat, and dry cough with scanty expectoration or bloody sputum. It is applicable to Diphtheria; Laryngitis; Pharyngitis; Pulmonary tuberculosis; Tumor of the larynx due to Heat.Indications: It is indicated for hemoptysis due to deficiency of lung yin and kidney yin, and hyperactivity of deficient fire leading to damage of lung collaterals; Phlyctenular conjunctivitis pertaining to syndrome of deficiency of lung yin; episcleritis (inflammation of superficial tissues overlaying the sclera) with syndrome of hyperactivity of fire due to yin deficiency; chronic tonsillitis pertaining to syndrome of yin deficiency of the lung, manifested as dry and uncomfortable larynx with slight pain and itch, dry cough or with scanty and sticky sputum, flushing tonsillar hypertrophy with yellow-white purulent spots on the surface, possibly accompanying afternoon zygomatic flush and feverish sensation of palms and soles, fatigued voice, red tongue with scanty fur, thready and rapid pulse.*
