This herb is only appropriate for acute, severe constipation or ascites. It is contraindicated for anyone with qi, blood, or fluid deficiencies. Contraindicated during pregnancy, as it may abort the fetus. The raw form of this herb is toxic and may cause severe abdominal pain and diarrhea.
1.5-3g. Vinegar-fry to reduce toxicity. For topical use, make into a paste.
